DETROIT, M.I. – General Motors IPO was an instant success with the public even after GM announced the price of common stock would increase. Original projected numbers included a total amount of $13 billion for the IPO. The final amount blew that number away and replaced it with a historic record instead.

General Motors sold 478 million common shares at $33 each, raising $15.77 billion. For the preferred stock, GM had planned on selling $4 billion and instead sold $4.35 billion. This brings the total to $20.1 billion, or $7.1 billion more than projected.

What’s more, General Motors is looking to raise a total of $23.1 billion, according to the automaker. Underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase up to 71.7 million additional shares of common stock from the selling stockholders which would add $2.37 billion to the already impressive amount, along with an additional 13 million shares of mandatory convertible junior preferred stock for a total of $650 million. General Motors IPO could be the biggest initial public offering ever in U.S. history. If all available shares are sold, the U.S. government’s stake in GM will drop to about 33 percent from 61 percent.

“As we prepare to enter the equity markets, all of us at GM are excited about this historic milestone. We are especially appreciative of those who stood by us through the toughest times, and we are dedicated to creating value for all of our stakeholders,” said GM Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell in a GM press release.

Today General Motors, led by Chief Executive Officer Dan Akerson, celebrated the historic occasion as Akserson rang The Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. At the same time, the sound of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS model engine was heard revving to coincide with the opening of the NYSE market.

According to a press release, Toyota Motor Sales has announced it is making arrangements with Clear Channel to integrate iheartradio into chosen Toyota vehicles in the early months of 2011. Approximately 750 stations and additional select content may be accessed through iheartradio.

Atlantic Toyota customers should know the full details of this mobile application integration will be revealed in January 2011 at the Consumer Electronics show. Consumers definitely have gravitated toward the iheartradio mobile app and the total number of users is more than 10 million.

Grand Turismo 5 is a Playstation 3 newer release. These guys sent me a free copy for putting in some information. I’m sure we both like free stuff right?

If I were you, I’d submit your info right away! This game is awesome. It’s known to be the best racing simulation on any console. [In fact, I wanted to get a PS3 simply to play this game. I know I'm a girl but I love racing games.] When they sent me my free Grand Turismo 5 copy, I was excited. I mean, it was free!

This game is great, there are several reviews on the net. As far as I know, they are all positive. Just do yourself a favor and get your free Grand Turismo 5 copy.

Detroit MI readers are learning about the Toyota recall today with everyone else. Toyota Motor Sales announced it will be conducting a voluntary recall of approximately 740,000 U.S. vehicles due to possible brake and fuel system problems.

The vehicles involved in the Toyota recall are the 2005 through 2006 Avalon, the 2004 through 2006 Highlander (non-Hybrid), Lexus RX330, and the 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 models.

According to Toyota spokesman Paul Nolasco, Toyota also submitted a recall notice to Japan’s transport ministry for about 599,000 Toyota and Lexus models produced between years 2002 to 2005 with about 930,000 vehicles sold overseas that need to be recalled as well.

The problem lies with polymers that are needed to act as lubricants for certain parts in the brake system. If the brake fluid is replaced and does not have the correct polymers, a rubber seal connected to the brake master cylinder piston may dry up and curl causing a small amount of the brake fluid to leak. This will cause the illumination of the brake warning lamp.

Any Detroit MI owners of any of these Toyota or Lexus vehicles will be notified beginning in November. All Toyota and Lexus dealers are ready to replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed one at no charge to the customer.
